Which is more accurate the satnav or speedo. Hubby thinks satnav is far more accurate. If so my speedo shows me going 5mph slower that I am - is this a gov conspiracy to slow down traffic?

The satnav is more accurate. The speedo will always be slower than your actual speed.

I think I agree with Tracy... in that your speed will always be slightly lower than what the speedo is indicating???

Mine is in the region of 3mph when compared to a satnav.

Yes i agree with Tracie and Neil smile.png, sat nav is more accurate. The speedo gets less accurate the faster you go, but will always under read wink.png.

I've had a speedo that has read 10mph less than i've been driving eg 60 instead of 70 wish satnav had been around then would have been very useful but think that it may depend on the age of the vehicle

Yup - Satnav is almost pinpoint accurate compared to the speedo! If the same technology can put a bomb through Saddam's bog window, it can certainly read accurate speeds!

Yep speedo always reads over, unless you put the wrong size wheels or tyres on.  So be carefull you 18 inch boys. And Girls! cheesey.png
Sat Nav is bang on unless you are speeding up or slowing down. Takes a moment to catch up.

Hmmmm not everything is a constant...... All speedos should over read from the factory to account for changes in tyre size on models and the difference between new and old tyres. Satnav is very accurate at a constant speed on a level surface, otherwise it isnt so great as it doesnt understand gradients. 30mph up hill isnt 30mph longitude or latitude as you are climbing and so not travelling as far in one direct as you are on a flat surface.

I agree with Dave. I don't trust the Sat nav to be perfect.

If you use the speedo you won't be breaking the law, its that easy.
