I just ordered a chrome kit for my dash/door/center consol. It is a genuine kit so I'm lead to believe, not just stick ons.

Has anyone had their dial surrounds off? How much of my weekend do I need to write off?  cry.png Had a quick look in Haynes manual but thats clear as mud!

Gratefull of any experieces you may have.

Thanks Tom.

Ouch!  I think you just bought a whole weekend of work!  I got mine from MyBeautifulMINI and they stuck over the top of the originals with double sided tape!

Good luck Tom - I'm sure the end result will be worth it!cheesey.png

Well here we go!

Having collected my parcel from the post office at 7am. I opened the box to find a pile of bubble wrap! Underneath were some sparkly dial surrounds sealed in their bmw mini bags.  biglaugh.png

Home from work early I stupidly thought I would tackle the job idea.png

Now I know you are all laughing, but get this! 2 hours later all fitted and the gearbox oil changed wink.png

For those interested, the 2 middle vents twist off with a wiggle. The hazard and dimmers just wiggle and pull. Gear surround easy pull up and then release the clips on the boot clamp.

Right Cup holder pull up working round the edge pushing in tabs with fine flat screwdriver or feeler gauge.

Now the difficult ones! The speedo. Flex the surround outwards and pull towards you working round to release the push on tabs. At the bottom all I can suggest is a 45 degree pick to push th 2 pinch to release tabs together. Then pull till ya nails come off, ya punch yourself in the face and it feels like you just pulled the engine through the bulkhead! Dont worry this is ok suprised.png Cheeky buggers at Bmw have put a bit of chewing gum behind there to stop rattles!

Now the rev counter. Use a T6 I think torx bit to undo counter mount. (dont drop screws to avoid 10 mins with magnet under the dash! ) Unscrew the back cover (Phillips) Unplug loom and ease cover off. Be careful of the fragile printed circuit!. Now you can flick the clips off and remove the surround.

Once all are off the new ones just push or twist on! mistrust.png

They look great! Highly recommended and dont be put off by fitting it really is easy! Mine came from newministuff website.

very Very pleased!cheesey.png  biglaugh.pngshades.png

Hope this helps anyone wanting to try a set, and the rest of you can wake up now!

Tom

Have now finished the interior chrome for now. Bought the rest off ebay as stick ons. Not such a great great fit but need to look at a few others to see how mine compares. cry.png

Hoping there might be some chromed up minis at MOH. If I can get off work early and dont get stuck on the motorway again! sad.png
