All,

I am jointly running this years National Mini Cooper Day at Beaulieu on Sunday 14th June.

In the past SCNM have had a stand, and I would like to know if you would like one this year?

If you do, then can someone volunteer to be your stand organiser and let me know how many spaces you'll need.

This year promises to be a great show, with the prices kept at 2008 levels. Just £10 on the day for adults and £5 for children. Advance tickets for adults are just £8.75.

Included in the ticket price is free entrance to the Beaulieu Museum.

There will be a display of 50 Minis / MINIs from 1959 right up to 2009.

Have a look on www.minicooper.org and follow the Beaulieu link for more details.

You can also drop me a PM or e-mail me at Beaulieu@minicooper.org

Regards

Mark Walker

I’m not volunteering, but from 3 past experiences can I just say we seem to keep getting stuck in a tiny space! Roughly we have 15/20 new minis in convoy (growing every year). So we need space for 15/20 minis. Over the years we have had a space that is big enough for about 5/7 classic minis! Can I suggest that we have a position that is lined up vertical to where we normally are so we are kinda in the middle of one of the fields that way we can all spread our cars out in a line Sorry to sound like a grumble it’s not honest. Just speaking from what has been assigned to us in the past!

Regards
James

Personally I think our stand usually looks like a car park. There are too many cars on the stand. I can understand James' point. its always nice to go to an event and have your car on the club stand. But looking at other clubs they are always well presented with photos and information on each car. Their stands are nicely layed out with room to walk around the cars.

I would suggest we have 1 of each type of MINI on the stand. i.e: 1 of each of the following
R50: "Mk I" Mini One and Cooper (2001-2006)
R52: "Mk I" Mini Convertible (2005-2008)
R53: "Mk I" Mini Cooper S (2001-2006)
R55: "Mk II" Mini Clubman, S or D (2008-present)
R56: "Mk II" Mini One, Cooper, S or D (2007-present)
R57: "Mk II" Mini Convertible (2009-present)
MINI One Seven
Park Lane
Checkmate
and a GP

Thats only 10 cars total.

Everyone else will still be able to park in the MINI parking area close to the stand anyway.

I don't mean it in a bad way James, just my thoughts on the matter.

Last year wasnt toooo bad until the guys parked in the way. Maybe the stand layout can be planned well before and everyone put their ideas forward?

Good work Arron taking it all on

have to admit i like matts idea ...

we do have a nice wide spread of cars from r50's to james' r57 which has just joined the fold so i think mabye sacrificeing all of the cars in a group(which there is alot) for 10 of the finest cars (in a more promanate spot ) will only promote the club more and boost members. then we will show some of the more established clubs we are a here and this is our doorstep

if you need an r50 cooper ... lou should be ready by then and if you need any help poser i may be able to help !

Bringing the alternative to the mini !!

Matt i do like ur idea, i think it make sense and is still fun. I just didnt know others reactions because its always nice to park as a group (as we are one) and i know myself and others like to know that we look good in our section so everyone knows who were are lol. But yes 1 each of the nicest or stangest examples would be excellent. And yes my r57 will be here for that and im more than happy for it to be on the stand.

Well Im thinking that to prevent snobbery and segregation, that if people want to show off their cars, then enter the concours.

The last thing Im going to have is division and friction caused by people thinking their car is better/worse than someone else's.

It would be nice if our stand could be more linear so that all of cars are on show and everyone gets as much attention as my lovely car does.
