Hi all as the title surgests. My mini has done abt 17k mile from new still with the original run flats on. Abt 5k mile ago i swapped the front tires with the rears so as to gain even wear so i could replace all of them at once. Now i have noticed a bulge in my front drivers side tire on the outer wall. So i think its time to change the set. At the moment i have run flats 195/45/17 all round, but want to change to non run flats 205/40/17. Firstly is this possible? will my rims accept this slightly wider tire? Also will i have a problem with my tires sensors i.e. will they trigger the dash light. meanng the only place i can get tires changed is BMW?

Thanks all

James,

I can help on a few points.

Yes you can change to non runflats - most people appear to.

I have just changed to non runflats and there is no issue with runflat sensors on mine.

There is a tyre recommendation thread on here and also a massive one on mini2 which might help on not only sizes but also what makes or tyre to get.

I hope that helps.

Id have thought your current tyres would be 205/45/17 as thats standard fit on mini 17" wheels. So the 205/40s would be a lower profile than standard fit which may put your speedo out slightly.

Ah trowbridge, i was being so simple. they are 205 standard lol. well i have ordered some 215/40/17 which are going on tomorrow yey. no more bulge and some sexy low profiles. I have just had the new bilstein coilover kit fitted you see so i can change the ride heigth 30-60mm so i have the car really low, now it will look right with some thin rubber.

thanks for the input ladies and gents.
