Finally got round to pressing the Sport Button for the first time now that Tallulah has been "run in".

Lets just say that up to now she's been all Virginal to drive, but once that button is pressed, well... its like she's in Slapper mode suprised.png or as Mr Messy said yesterday....,  "like a Squaddies ground sheet in a Army camp "dodge.png

I think that Button will be pressed every day

Does any one have the same trouble as me with the sport button pressed. I have to make sure my foot is off the clutch pedal before I press the throttle when trying to quick shift. I have to be carefull I dont end up slipping the clutch. I can drive quickly easily with the button off but am really struggling with it on.
I have done loads of track days with my other cars and have never had this problem.

Dave, i can't say i have experienced that, but yours is a jcw so it might be worth asking a jcw owner if they have the same?

Mine is more the opposite - its much smoother with the sport button pressed, particularly in lower gears.

Hi Dave, mine's an R56 S and like Charlotte I can't say I've had any problems with that I'm afraid - mind you, I also cannot drive the blessed thing properly without the sport button depressed so it's probably something I have just gotten used to.

Thanks for the info. It could be that because I only occasionally use the sport button, that I need to get used to the more sensitive throttle before I start to rag it. My last car was NASP with around 200 BHP and the power delivery was very different.
I will try driving it around with the sport button on for the next few days and see if I get used too it. Im off to the ring a week today and I want to feel that I havnt got to concentrate on gear changes as its hard enough sussing out braking and turning in points to get a quick time. If I have to I will leave the button off.
I dont think theres anything wrong with the car its just Im struggling to adapt.

When i first got mine i wasn't enamoured with the sport button despite all other R56'ers saying how good it was.

I couldn't believe the change in the handling and feel just from pressing the button - it is something to get used to. I sometime wonder if its better not to press the button when you are stationary, e.g. at traffic lights, then it feels a bit hesitant. Pressing it whilst you are moving somehow feels more consistent?

Enjoy the ring, make sure you post pictures when you come back and be careful.

Thanks for the info Charlotte. I got quite a bit of experience last year in my Zed at the ring. To that end I will only be going out between 8 and 10 in the morning. After that all the nutters arrive in there GT3's etc. Most accidents happen with the rear wheel drive cars, especially M3's. One guy spun out in front of me on a corner In an M3 when I was not really pushing hard. There are a lot of corners that go over blind brows and the rear wheel drive cars tend to step out where the front wheel drive cars just spin the front wheels with no fuss at all.

Well. Ive started to drive the car around today with the sport button on all the time. This has made a difference. I know it sounds strange but I think hitting the button just to occassionally drive quickly doesnt give you time to adapt to the new throttle position. Ive done about a hundred miles today and now feel I synchronise my gear changes a lot better.

cheers for the advice.
