On Tuesday the 2nd December, i paid a visit to 1320MINI, for some more horse power. I asked for a 15% pulley reduction, new uprated plugs and a GRS intercooler to be fitted.

When the work was finished, the car was then put on the dyno to see what the result was. And what a result it was too, i've now got 222bhp @ 7042rpm, and 176.5 lbft @ 5989rpm. With as much as 150lbft available from 2900rpm. Before the work, the standard engine was making a peak torque figure of 150lbft @ 5250, with 192bhp.

So from just a pulley reduction and intercooler upgrade, i now have 30 more bhp, and 26 lbft more torque . And i can feel all that extra power all the time on the road. Paul at 1320MINI said before i drove home that my MINI would feel like a different car now, and how right he was amazed.png. It's just fantastic to drive now, more power and torque everywhere and yet it's dilivered much smoother than before.

So thanks to 1320 for there efforts, i now have more power than a WORKS MINI, and i've paid a lot less for it too biglaugh.png.

I'll see if i can get a scan of the dyno graph, to show all the extra i now have compered to before wink.png.
I'll be hoping to break into the 14's at Santa Pod now .

Nope, no one would laugh at all. We've all balls up a run before. Usually it's something like leaving the traction control on. I have seen someone in a proper draster stall on the start line and nobody laughed. I was once in reverse edging back cos i thought i'd gone to far forward when the light went green. It was  caught on video too, and is now on youtube biglaugh.png.

You will make mistakes when you first have a go, but nothing that anyone hasn't done already. And if you do, then you just drive round and have another go. Your signing on fee allows you to have as many runs as you like.

One thing you may not be awear of is, the clock does NOT start when the light goes green. It will only start when you move. You could sit there for 5 seconds, and the clock only starts when you brake the timing beam as you move away. Knowing that helps when you first have a go, and takes the pressure off you.

Yeah its funny when you sit there in a cloud of smoke but really it doesnt take long for the MINI to get going. If you are worried about stalling or too much wheelspin then just start from an agressive normal pull away as it isnt that much slower

with 220whp u can not get into the 14?
then your next mod has to be the driver mod!
my 97 GTI VR6 was right under 205WHP and i could get 14.6.

learn to flat [censored], deflate ur tires, and launch!

The 220 hp is BHP not WHP though. My wheel HP is 190, and with that i have done a 14.735 @ 97.5mph back in Febuary this year. The track wasn't in great condition at that point, and launching was tricky, but i felt that was a pretty good time though smile.png.

With 220whp i recon i would be getting high 13s though wink.png.
