Thanks peeps for your kind words and thoughts.

I am ok, so is Borda.

I miss him dearly, however, I am coping, thanks

It is great to have Borda with me, as he reminds me so much of his dad - very cheeky, full of life, yet always a gentleman!

Borda still remembers Max, when I showed him a pic of him, he leaned forward and licked it. I thought that was just fluke, so I tried another 2 photos and he did exactly the same.

Likewise, he remembers his scent on his belongings too.

I thought he did not recognise him as he did not do anything when I showed him my screensaver. However, that's probably it was out of his reach.

That set me off good and proper, and I had a good cry while hugging Borda.

Hi all,

I went to Max's inquest earlier today, and the conclusion of accidental death was as expected.

Apparently there was no sign of struggle, which meant he was likely to be unconcious when he hit the water, before breathing in the water and drowned.

This is a relief to me to hear he was unlikely to have suffered.

Also, it transpired he had a bit to drink beforehand, which was likely to be a contributing factor towards his death.

The conclusion is that it was likely that he slipped and banged his head against something very hard, knocked himself unconcious, before drowning in the canal. This is what I believe had happened all along, based on his big bruise on his forehead when I went to formally identify him in the mortuary.

I also learnt that I nearly lost Borda too, as he was struggling to stay afloat when he was found. It must be fate that he survived!

The critters were there for the inquest, and I gave them my best Siberian shoulder treatment.

Neil (Max's mate) and Christine (his colleague) were there to support me, and we had a good meal afterwards.

I felt a bit low afterwards, however, I soon perked up after a good cry. As I said, it was a relief to hear he did not suffer!

Well thank you for the update Dora!

It is good to know he didnt suffer, and it confirmed my suspicions as to how everythig had happened.

Hugs.

Dora & I hope you are feeling a little better now the Inquest has taken place. When I lost my husband some 12 years ago I felt that I could not make sence or clossure on it until the Inquest was heard. I am also pleased to learn Max did not suffer.

Sending love to you & Borda,

Chris x

We can at least take some comfort from the results of the inquest.

Sorely missed but never forgotten!

Hi peeps, I'll be off on holiday for a week from tonight, and shall be with my mum and a family friend on the anniversary of his death on Sunday.

Don't worry, I am fine, and have managed to move on in certain aspects of my life.

The old goat has left a big void that can't be refilled easily, and I miss him every day. However, life goes on as they say.

Take care peeps!

Oooo, I bumped into Blackferret yesterday in Swindon, and he was looking well. Come back safe and sound Gordon!

Glad to see you are OK. Will be thinking of you and Max on Sunday.
Does not seem a year since we lost him.sad.png Like many he has left a hole in our lives but I can honestly say not many days go by with some thought or reference to him.
A true gent and friend, although gone will never be forgotten.
