Hello Dora & Borda,
It was a beautiful service and I felt you spoke from the heart. I must admit I had a tear in my eye & a lump in my throat when I saw Max's car outside the church, I was not expecting to see it again but I was a perfect symbol of what he meant to all of us at SCNM! & I just want to say that you did us poud up there John you spoke for all of us thank you!
Take care!

Just got back to wet wet kernow and wanted to say much the same as has been said already.
I only had the pleasure of meeting Max twice but could tell he was a special guy. It was good to hear everyone speak of him so highly. Dora and John you were great and I agree with others, it was a lovely touch to have his car outside. I remember all to well trying desperately to catch up with Max and others on the Wessex lll run! great fun!

take care guys and keep his memory going with all those happy memories!

Emz x

Just to ecco what everyone else has said, it was a very nice service. It really was great to hear all about Max's military career, a part of his life that most of us here hadn't heard about before. Well done to Dora and John for there speeches, both were honest and sincere and very touching. It was wonderful to see so many MINI's there, and both moving and a joy to see Max's MINI outside the church too. Like he was there to welcome us when we arrived at the church, and greet us as we left. I still can't quite believe i wont see him again, but treasure the times i did. Like back in August on the evening Stonehenge Run, when we stopped and parked up, and he showed me where he was going to work when he started his new job. And what an amazing building it is. It was lovely to see so many SCNMer's there today to pay there respects, i'm sure he would be pleased.

What a beautiful and fitting service that was. The fact so many people turned up from all different aspects of his life was nice to see and the playing of "My Life" was very apt.
I was disappointed I couldnt stay and chat with folks after, but duty calls.

Thanks everyone for joining me yesterday to celebrate and honour his life.

I am glad it was a good turn out from all walks of life, including peeps from military, SCNM, Barge Inn, his sister and his bro-in-law.

As for his MINI being parked outside the church, that was his son's idea alone. At last he has done something right for his father.

It is his MINI now, as well as the Porsche and everything else. I do not know his plans for the MINI and the Porsche, both are currently in lock-ups on camp, and it is costing him a bit of money for the rent of the lock-ups and insurance. Since he is only 31, and both cars are in high risk groups, allegedly, insurance for both cars are quite hefty.

Nothing to do with me anymore as he is the legal next of kin.

I told you I believe it was his cunning plan not to leave a will, and I am more convinced that is true as the days go by!

Thank you all for being his friends, as well as mine. Your kind words and thoughts are much appreciated during my darkest hours.

SCNM is like his as well as my extended family. I am sure he would feel mighty honoured to see so many of you at his Thanksgiving Service yesterday.

He always said he wanted to die before me, as he knew I would have the strength to go on without him, whereas he was not sure if he could go on without me. I guess he's got that settled alright.

I know he would not want me to mope around and feel sorry for myself, so I shan't.

I shall have plenty of happy memories to cherish.

I can't let go yet, as it happened all too sudden. However, as ex-husband rightly said, although my time with him was life-enhancing, is only another chapter in my story.

My mum, who lost my father back in 2005, said time will ease the pain, let's hope she is right.

Thank you all for being there for me, and for Max, which is much appreciated

Yes I think it does too.

And when you find someone who looks like Patrick McGuiness, then you can have your own Max and Paddy tribute act!

my sincerest apologies for not being able to attend due to poor health. During the day i did think about the service and had my own private 2mins of thought. Im sure that things will get much better over time and the most important thing to remember is that you have so many friends (DK) that are here for you.

All, Please see a copy of the letter I have received from Help for Heroes thanking SCNM for the donation we made in memory of Max. This was £206.50 made up from the proceeds of the raffle, the donation of the meal deposit (originally paid by Max) from Dora and last but not least the dobnation by my son James of a whole week's pocket money (although that's only 50p it was significant from his perspective!)
