Just a bit of info if you need show plates or are looking to get some.

From 1st November 2008 it will become an offence to sell or manufacture registration plates that do not conform to the latest British Standards and design criteria laid down by the DVLA
Consequently the ability to purchase Showplates displaying non-legal fonts/spacing/ images/slogans etc will be outlawed.

so you need to buy them by 30th oct 2008.

I can understand the need for this law, some people have taken it to far with dots where they want to change letters and some of the fancy fonts are a bit silly.

The majority ruin it for the minority...but hey ho! If people want to act like stupid children, then everyone will be treated like it, irrespective of whether their plates are less illegal than others!

However there is a loop hole so don't panic.

Number plate producers can still make 'signs' so dont panic - just up to you how or where you display the 'sign'.

The good thing about the change is that people cannot put website address's at the bottom of number plates - personally i hate all those adverts.

In all seriosness there are far more important crimes that should be tackled then numberplate spacing.

I suggest focussing on people without insurance, MOT's and tax first.

No surprise given the Police state that we are now living in.

The Police have to massage their statistics with easy catches as they seem to be to scared to go after real criminals, so they have to criminalise the rest of us.

There is a 72 year old man in a coma in hospital in Poole as the Police couldn't restrain him and so used CS Spray, what a joke.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1055855/Pensioner-left-coma-police-use-CS-spray-arrest-him.html

And they wonder why the general public, no longer has any confidence in the Police.

Well maybe we could catch more criminals driving without insurance and all that, if our number plate readers could read their dodgy bloody number plates!

Honestly...it doesnt take a fricking genius to work that out!

Oh wait! It did!

Aha!
