Hi, can anyone one advise me on whats the best thing to do as my clutch has gone on my 02 mini at 44000 miles. Is this a common problem? Is it best to go to BMW to get it fixed? What sort of pride can i expect to pay?

Ive just had the clutch changed on my mini - luckily the labour was paid for under warrenty as there was a fault with my flywheel and it was all apart already. But at the time the service chap said i was lucky as it would be an £800 job whereas i got away with paying £215 which was the price of the clutch itself. This was TICE mini in Dorchester and for a mini cooper s.

That wasnt with BMW that was just a local garage. I phoned Tice BMW just for a giggle to see how much it would be and he said £850 . Is it a common problem coz the guy at the local garage said he had done quite a few, but the guy at BMW said he aint done any.

Well my clutch was changed there??? But wasnt worn out as such but the difference afterwards was huge. The pedal was so much lighter with the bite point being much lower was maybe it was on its was (had done about 51k miles).

Fair enough. Think the guy at BMW didnt want to make out it was a common problem. Hopefully getting it fixed tomorrow for 450 all inc unless it turns out to be more serious.
