I've studied the circuit diagram and the possible causes could: 1) Grounds (both the socket itself and the relay. Brown wires...) If the socket back light comes on with the dash back lights then the ground for the socket is ok. 2) The main power of the socket goes through fuses FL1(50A) and F32(15A) 3) The relay is switch with the ignition switch so id assume that system is sound. 4) Relay failure. Relay in the passenger compartment fusebox. and F32 fuse too. So in summary check the engine compartment fuse FL1 and check fuse F32 and the lighter relay in the passenger compartment.
