I wonder if anybody can help me or has had similar problem, last night whilst driving i lost all power to my speedo, rev counter, clock, fuel guage and temp guage, but still had all other electric. We have had all the fuses out and check and cant see any that have blown so was just wondering if anyone had any ideas.

Many thank
Ali

As long as you have checked all the fuses both engine bay and inside the car and remote locking is working then I guess tracking the cables with a multimeter but you are getting into auto electrician teritory. Someone else might have another idea though.

All I can also ask is, does the speedo/rev counters work at all?? when you turn your lights on and off does it effect the inside lights? Does the radio work?

The speedo and rev counter have no life atall there are stuck where they were when they died. Turning the lights on and off has no affect on the dials.
the radio works just fine.

At a stab in the dark id say it is either completely blow, fuse somewhere inline or the ground for the dash has failed. I'd comtact Simon at http://www.essentialmini.co.uk/ and see if he will be kind enough to give you any advice.

I have had a similar propelem in my old r53 cooper. I had changed my head unit and in my rush i didnt properly connect the ground ing wire behind the radio, as i was driving along the wire must have come loose and touched a piece of metal in the dash which was i guess toughing somthing that was interferring with the electricity. Anyway when it happened on the motorway i lost my guages and the radio. But when i got home and removed the radio and found the affending wire i fixed properly and all the guages worked again and the radio.

Sounds like the BC1 (Basic Control unit) they suffer with water ingress. Check the drivers and passengers side footwells for signs of water leaks.

Theres no sign of any water leak but we havent had much rain these last two weeks so be a bit hard to tell lol.
That was something we were warned about when we got the car.
I got another quick question, this time about my mums mini ( we are a mini family) her driver side door has stopped unlocking when she used the button on the key, the rest unlock its just the driver side, anyone know what that could be?
