Hi all, me again!

This years British Car Enthusiasts show is to be held once more at Wicksteed Park in Kettering, Northamptonshire, its about 20mins past Silverstone, almost at Rockingham Raceway.

Entrance to Wicksteed Park is a mere £6 per car (any number of passengers), it has wonderful landscaping for outdoor picnics etc, on site food facilities and plenty of ride/arcade facilities. All in all, its a great day out to have a good laugh and spend time with friends or family of all ages.

All monies from the day will go to the Make-A-Wish foundation, and they will be there to support us with one, maybe two wish children and their families. 2007 raised just short of £1,300 on the day.

Camping is available and there are local facilities for those who wish to make more than a day of it. 2007 saw us with many displays, inclduing the RML Le-Mans team and Formula Jedi (high revving motorbike powered single seat screamers!.

Which brings me to why I am here... everyone is of course welcome, but we are aiming to have 50 Minis on display at the event, and I am looking to those who would be interested in helping us reach the target.

Club display areas are also available (FOC) to those who book one in advance.

On a personal note to those who have been to Sunseeker, this event is faaaaaar more popular than those who turned up in Feb

And there ends my little advert and plee, I would really like to make 2008 continue the trend of being bigger and better than the previous year, anyone who would be willing to help for this fantastic cause would be very welcomed!

Thank you!

Hi Rob,

Please add me to the list and also let me know how we go about booking a club stand for SCNM.

Thanks,

Consider yourselves booked for a club stand

I'll keep post #1 updated with the list, obviously it is early days yet, thanks for the support so far!

Although not all Mini's I think we've broken the 50-car attendance barrier already - not bad for less than a weeks worth of notifying just over 5 months before the event

So far we've got strong confirmations from the owners of Jaguar, LDV, Lotus, Mini, MG and Rover!

I've put some more additions to post #1, this obviously includes names from multiple sources for the total number of MINIs attending, however, you have booked your own club stand

Well, so far a very disappointing turn out for the '50 we had hoped for...

Is anyone else interested?

Is anyone else interested in going to this?
Would be good to get a few more MINI's going.

Rob,
Whats the plan for meeting up before getting into the event?
Do we just go straight there and get told where to go or should we meet up with you before hand?

Thx

I'll be there there rather early to help with the co-ordinating. I admit this year has had the slowest take up yet, I think the financial pinch is showing. There will be people on the gate taking the park entry fee, from there you will have signs to essentially follow the drive pretty much to completion at the back of the fairground rides. It'll seem a bit round the houses, but its easy enough really (just dont come off the road until you're told to!).

I'd suggest meeting at the park to be honest, its not too bad to find it and I cant really think of anywhere more appropriate nearby... but then someone more local may be able to advice

For those who are journeying up from the south, I can name a number of appropriate meeting points, the journey is pretty much A34 to Oxford, along the motorway westbound for 1 junction, head north to Silverstone along the A45 (watch the speed cameras, one there, two back). Once you get to the M1, follow the ring rounds around the Northampton area to Kettering.

I can only assume it was the weather, but despite a brief shower when we were setting up the tents and being a bit overcast during the morning, by the afternoon it was brilliant sunshine!

Should have some pics to follow, but numbers were well down this year with essentially no classics turning up. Still, we had around 70 cars turn up and have raised around £800. Official figures etc will be available soon.
