Hi all,

I have decided that i would like my cooper s to look lower. I am looking for a drop of 30/35mm all round, but i only want coilovers becuase i dont want to spend buckets of cash. I am having a hard time finding a set that meets my criteria, anyone got any ideas. Thanks James

Perhaps these might fit the bill.

Mind the bumps!

Lowering your car is like having a LY or PW car or white wheels.

All four are a total disaster.

But don't trust me just ask Arron lol

only lowering springs in the world to use on the mini are the Texas Speed Werks ones anything else is a waste, if your going for coilovers then JIC Cross or AST (but have the AST custom valved for Swift Springs)

R50 Cooper Red/White m7 STB m7 CAI m7 sport springs carbotech stoppers

epic cooper coming soon, (cooper S shot block, Thumper Head, rotex supercharger, AST coilovers re-valved for swift springs, TSW BBK, safety devices half cage, recaro race seats, etc)

As Tracie said i had mine done about three or four weeks ago and I have eibach's.

I love it, it handles so much better and its not as hard ride as you think.

Even the torque steer is less - don't go there James, we dont need this debate again about how i cant drive that's why i get torque steer cheesey.png

You dont need coilovers loads of money for more than you will ever use. Get your bushes done too for torque steer fixes.

I agree with Dave.

I have an 'anti-lift kit' aka new bushes for mine so will let you know how it goes.

the PRS system solid ones ? i wouldnt go fitting them after what happened to Damos ones (didnt last long on the uk roads), superflex are the better option in the polly bush (i have the front lowers done) but need to do the rest when i pull the tranny for the 6 speed swap as i need to sort out the suspension and get my coilovers sorted,

eibach sag in the end the quality of the metal is shambolic swift make the best springs on the planet, and they are starting to make them for the mini (the le-mans winning audi R10's use swift springs )

Ways to reduce the effect of torque steer

  • Employ the use of a tire with proper sidewall ply design, mitigating the sidewall deformation.
  • Have both driveshafts of the equal length by using an intermediate shaft (or "lay shaft") on one side of the transmission. This is already implemented on most modern cars. When the driveshafts have different length and excessive torque is applied, the longer half shaft flexes more than the shorter one, thus causing one wheel to momentarily spin more slowly than the other, resulting in a steering effect. So the equal lengths of the driveshafts reduce the torque steer effect.
  • Implement double wishbone suspensionor multi-link suspension.
  • Distribute the torque better between the driveshafts. Automobile transmission manufacturers like QuaifeTorsenTrueTracGold Trac offer worm-gear-based torque-biasing limited slip differentials for front-wheel drive vehicles, which help to reduce the amount of torque steer and improve cornering.
  • Reduce the amount torque from the front axle by passing part of torque to the rear axle. This is achieved on all-wheel-drive (AWD) vehicles with full-time AWD, e.g. with mechanical gear-based transaxle differential.
  • Power assisted steering (set on most modern cars) make the torque steer effect less noticeable to the driver. Steer-by-wire also hides the effect of torque steer from the driver.
Note that rear-wheel-drive vehicles do not usually suffer from the torque steer effects on the rear wheels , since the engine is not connected to the steering gear unless it has all wheel steering.

since the mini has all the above really all i can blame is your diriving
