Hi - my '03 Cooper needs a new exhaust. I went into KwikFit and was told it would be £250, and that I needed a whole back exhaust.
For that sort of money. I was thinking I could look at a sports exhaust instead. Anyone got one - any recommendations. I use the car on motorways, and have small kids in the back, so I guess nothing too loud. Any recommendations? Thanks

Hi Matt, the Playmini s/s exhausts are quite tame noise wise, especially if you choose the system that has the front box.

Highly recommended, a direct fit with choioce of tail trim for just a little over that price.

Web site is not very exciting though..  Located near Crawley Sussex.

Will be getting one myself when my 04 Cooper one drops of this year shades.png

The Miltek is a cracker!

Sounds nice, but perfect on the motorway!

Thanks for all the answers and advice. What sort of difference will I notice if I fit the Milltek/Janspeed or similar? Any performance or mpg changes?

Yeah, in terms of performance it's only small gains you will see. The mini exhausts aren't too restrictive anyway on all the cars, it's the manifolds that choke them the most.

But the gains are there though however if a little small! Perhaps even treat yourself to an induction kit at the same time? You'll love the sound the two make together!

As Dave has said - marginal mebbe 5-10 bhp or so.

But with that marginal increase comes a lovely sound

Go for the Janspeed, get a decat pipe for £65 while your'e there and drive away with a wider grin.

The Janspeed is £320 or so incl VAT but its SS and comes with a lifetime Guarantee.

And that's for life as I have discovered.

regards

Max

Quick update - had the Cooper MOT'd over at Minispeed today. Looks like the exhaust is good for a while longer yet - and not as desperate as KwikFit said. Which is good news. MiniSpeed also noticed that one of my HT leads was no longer insulated. So fitted some Magnecor HT leads, and all is good again. Another year's MOT for less than £100 amazed.png

Also just got my insurance done through Adrian Flux - very good price and good discount.
