My emissions light use to come on when driving hard through the gears due to supercharger reduction pulley. Once you drive normally for a few days it would then turn off again. Strange thing is I nolonger get the light on anymore but the traction control still dies when driving hard. [ Edited Fri Dec 28 2007, 04:46PM ]

Might be a faulty sensor. Would be best to get someone that can read the fault codes to take a look when the light is on. I take it the car still drives the same and you don't notice any drop in power when the light is on?

This will leave a fault code, that can be read by the diognostic equipment at your dealers, whether the light is still on or not. The fault code on mine showed that the throttle body was faulty, this was replaced under warranty and the light hasn't come on since. Hope this helps.

Could be bypass valve being stuck, throttle body response problems and even the accelerater giving false readings. I hope its nothing too bad as there a whole host of really bad things it could be If you dont want to go to the dealers I can read the fault codes and sensor data. Second is are the plugs ok? worth checking. Third check that there are no air leaks to the sides or beneath the intercooler. Get someone to look for any flashes of light beneath the ic which would indicate a split weld in the alloy (I had that ) Finally could be a loose exhaust joint, a knackered cat or a duff O2 sensor. Whatever if you can't solve it get it hooked up to the diagnostics at the stealer that will sort it for you I'm sure Support Our Heros http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ http://www.presentsformen.co.uk/product-PFM-Help-for-Heroes-Mug-6461/ http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article492159.ece http://www.artfund.org/queenandcountry/index.php http://www.santalash.co.uk/charity.html

Not sure of costs but certainly shouldnt be a major job. Its even relatively easy on the MCS. Will check tonight and see if it looks just as easy. Sorry to hear about the damage Another hit and run job I bet??? Not like that can miss it though!?!?!?! MINI Project 370hp and counting... : MINIProject.co.uk

Talking to Wood in Salisbury, they said it may be associated with the Janspeed s/s system I'd had fitted (but I did not believe them!). Booked it in and they diagnosed (for a mere £112.23 + VAT) the Oxygen sensor and replaced it straight away (cheap at only £65 including labour, plus VAT). Anyway, it pulls much more smoothly now and it 'feels' faster. 2004 Cooper with 122,000 on the clock BTW.

By coded they might mean setup for closed and fully open. Where THEWORKSMINI when you need him? MINI Project 370hp and counting... : MINIProject.co.uk
