Can anyone help? The beasty just failed its MOT on emissions as the CAT has gone. Roland has said to send the CAT back to them but meanwhile I'm buggered as the car needs taxing and is off the road:(

DOes anyone have a Janspeed manifold and sports cat (IE GTT) that they currently arent using the removble CAT for? Or is willing to swap for my straight through for a day to get it through the MOT

Long shot I know but you never know

Sorry Tony can't help you out with the cat as I'm still running BMW manifold and cat.

You've got me worrid about my MOT coming up now. Done just over 50,000 miles and that includes various track days so I'm wondering if my standard CAT will need replacing. Guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens and if it needs replacing maybe I can get BMW to fix under warranty. If not it will be a trip to Roland.

Update - thanks for the replies guys. My pet mechanic has flushed it with brake cleaner (i think) and reckons hes got it below 0.2 CO so its going in tomorrow for another retest. Fingers crossed. If it doesnt then I may well take you up on that Adrian thanks...
On another note Roland has been really helpful so whatever happens the CAT is going back to JANSPEED to find out what happened.

I'm very undecided at the moment about keeping the car. We desperately need a new boiler in the new house and I'm not sure if I can justify keeping her as a trackday/occasional jaunt motor when I can pick up a much quicker but less practical second hand westfield for £6000 and spend £4000 on the house. But I love her to bits and really dont know what to do

Not sure where he has been but I do know his laptop stopped working the other week so he will not be on much. Do you have his mobile number?

Could be a sensor that is failing causing the emissions to be too high?

Unable to access the sites much at work at the moment after a few problems at work...... I need my job! Opps! And my laptop blew up! Double Opps! Repaired now though.

Right... ideas..... If its not the CAT then its more than likely overfuelling so check the T-Map sensor. You really need to plug it into an ODB reader and see what the Boost and Temps are.

My problem recently was over fueling caused by the temp sensor intermittantly failing and reading upto 70degress C. What fuel are you running? Are you reving the car and making sure the cat is hot?

Mine also failed its MOT which the tester wasnt too suprised at. I said he has seen many MINIs fail after being tuned.

Maybe the extra load of the enlarged crank pulley doesnt help too.

Havent got the enlarged Crank pulley on yet
No codes coming up on the OBD, but I'll get him to check the T-map sensor.
He is going to clamp the fuel line to lean it out so it will pass so we can worry about the real problem after its taxed!

LOL! I like your thinking!

Need to be able to adjust your fuel pressure really in an idle world instead of clamping.

Cant they just let you pass anyway if its close?

They wont check under the bonnet so as long as it passes its irrelevant Ill take the clamp straight off and then spend time finding the real cause.

However I thnk its time to end my MINI experience - i can't justify teh cost of insurance, road tax and spares for a car that only gets driven on the weekends now. Not when i can get a 360 bhp kit car for £6000.

Unfortunately I'm at the Race Of Champions this weekend. Ther will be someone in but the new place is tricky to find and I dont want you to have a wasted journey. Let me know when your free in the new year and we will go for it then if thats ok? Roland thinks it might be the pre cat sensore so Im going to try that too.
