I know a couple of you have had Nankangs, Dave, Max and Garf.... they really must be good...

I decided to change to them today and apparently the warehouse in S'ton has a massive shortage of them! LOL.

Anyway, hope its not all chit chat and they are decent for what they are...

Thoughts?

Hello Ben

Just to say a big thanks to Dave for the original linky to Nankang-NS tyres off the web.

Since I got my 18" GP Replicas I'm on my second set of NS fronts at £57 a corner.

First set fitted in January - did 2 track days and 8,000 miles, mainly in the wet Jan-Apr.

Second set of fronts fitted early June before we went to MINI UNITED in Amsterdam, then done a further track day at end of June.

I've still got 6mm on the second set of fronts and still on the Jan fitted rears.

My local tyre place are also impressed - they all bought these tyres for their own cars having seen mine (no mean feat!!!)

I suppose that they do wear a bit quicker in the dry than other tyres - but then I'm putting 245hp at the wheels so it's difficult to tell really.

Overall I would say that they are a good buy - just £57 a corner for my 18" wheels.

As an aside, my GP Replicas (from South Coast Wheels you may recall?) one was warped in manufacture as testified to by my tyre fitter. No worries they added 240 grams of weights to that wheel and it's now on my least worst corner - rear nearsidebiglaugh.png it's as good as gold no wobble up to 150mph...

On which note I'll say farewell..

Oh my 265bhp 52 plate R52 car at 100,000 miles is now up for sale at a measley £8k if anyone is interested? Over £24k spent, FSH all bills etc

Available end of October... might even do an ad if I can find the timewink.png

Try to avoid etyres as a bit of advice. They use mobile tyre fitters and therefore balance your wheels in the back of a van. This is not ideal unless the van floor is completely true which is impossible pretty much! Had mine done three times with them then gave up and went somewhere else.

But for the money, you can't go wrong with Nankangs - they are very good for their price and outperform some more expensive stuff. Put it this way, they aren't your average cheapo tyre with a big handling trade off.

I've been running them on the back for a couple of thousand miles so far... they haven't scared me yet and have been driving a lot in wet weather on the motorway and the usual greasy back roads from my house.

They will be fitted to the front as soon as I need new fronts!!

Hi Stuart. Do you think problems like this apply to all mobile fitting firms ?.

To be honest i'm not totally sure Hyperactive. But from an engineering point of view using a balancing machine to balance anything should normally be undertaken when on level ground.

I would guess however that their machines should be designed to work in the back of a van - but as I say my experiences weren't brilliant in the case of eTyres.

Going back to the Nankangs though, they can be had for less than £50 a tyre on www.mytyres.co.uk All you gotta do is get some nice tyre fitting type guy to fit and balance them for ya. Mine are due for a change, and the Nankangs will be my chosen purchase.
