Hi all,

Max and I are thinking of getting a spare set of radios so that we can "lend" them out on runs, and I thought about organising a group buy in case there are others who are interested in getting some.

The spec of the radio is yet to be decided, however, the "must have" will be the following:

The brand will be Motorola as I believe they make the best ones

Features will include:
Sub- channels
Ring or similar attachment mechanism for lanyard attachment
Supply with re-chargable batteries
Twin pack with a single double charger (this enables you to use the radios during home outings and not just driving around in a MINI )
Under 70 GBP for a pair including batteries and chargers (this is what I am aiming for, however, it depends on the model etc.)

Full payment will be required in advance via PayPal or bank transfer.

Delivery will take place in person at SCNM meets after I take delivery of the radios, either by myself or Max. Sorry, no postal delivery as it is too much hassle!

Please register your interest below.

I'll post up the full spec, price and payment details once I have them

DK

P.S.:

I may organise a separate group buy for the ear bug with in-line Push To Talk button - something I am meaning to get but have yet to get round to it.

Wear the radio on a lanyard around your neck and use the ear bug to listen to messages, and PTT when you need to. This will free up both hands most of the time, and you get to hear all transmissions (not 100% sure if the latter is a good thing though  )

If you are interested in getting a ear bug, then please let me know via this thread for the time being, thanks

Update 11:20h on 04 Feb 07

I'd be interested in having an ear bug , any chance of including a lanyard in the groupbuy as well  .

Dora, the twin pack radio's, with charger i bought last September from Radios-UK, were Motorola T5022's. I paid £59 including V.A.T. and delivery, if thats any help .

It's wired as wireless technology has not reached PMR446 yet!

Noted re: ear bug

I checked with Radios UK and they are not stocking T5022s at the mo

I'll see what I can do re: lanyard. Or join us at MINI United and get one as part of the pack

Custom-made ones are too expensive, as one needs to order a minimum quantity of 50 or so

Apart from my suggestion re: getting a MINI United one, try this:

I got mine from there, and I prefer to have one with safety clasp

MINI United 2005 one does not have safety clasp, not many "promotional" ones do, as they cost extra!

The black one, although plain, does the job nicely IMHO

I saw that, and these are the ones I get from work - Max's blue one is from my previous company, I have a red one now. Prices do not include VAT though, and minimum order is 10. You can organise a group buy for this

They do the trick too, however, the clip is plastic, not as sturdy as the black one I bought from the referee place Max says it works fine for him

Hi Dave,

It's still open as I have not got round to doing much about it

The best price I can get for the T5422s (a pair with twin charger and rechargeable batteries) is from Maplin at 59.99 a pair, and there is no discount, no postage though if the order is over 100 GBP (2 pairs ).

As for earbug with PTT, the best price is 19 GBP each including postage.

Therefore:
For radios alone, it will be 59.99 GBP
For earbug with PTT along, it will be 19 GBP
For radios and earbug together will be 78.99 GBP

If peeps are still interested, then please let me know, ta
