This morning whilst finishing the route recce for our Only Fools & Horses Run next Sunday...

http://scnm.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1493&start=45&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=

....I came across Keevil Airfield.

Its a disused very run down former RAF site and the condition of the tarmac is quite poor.

The Contol Tower is gutted and there are no gates left anywhere; no facilities just an old nissan hut which boasts on a tatty sign that it's the home of a gliding club.

Went for a spin around the track (just to see what it was like) as I said it's a very poor surface much worse than Brunty.

Got some disapproving looks from a Glider Club bloke and one tried to chase me off the airfield

So I think I'll cross Keevil off the list - I might just pop across on the first event day to see how people get on - and it's only 15 minutes from home

Just received this if anyone is interested....>

As Winter approaches the weather is still being kind so why not have some more fun on track? During November you have the chance to visit all of our outstanding airfield track day venues.  These superb airfields offer exciting track designs, large run off areas, outstanding value and are the place in which to push your car to it's limits and to hone your driving skills.  To encourage you out on what may be slightly chilly days we have slashed the prices at some of our events.
  • Friday 9th Abingdon £109 This event is already filing fast and is a firm favourite with track day regulars.  A great mixture of corners and a true race track feel. Close to the A34 and M4 it's in a great location!
  • Monday 12th Keevil £79 Keevil provides a spectacular setting for this fantastic track and it is one of our most popular venues for all levels of experience. An amazing venue that will provide lap after lap of fun!
  • Monday 19th Colerne £89 Located right next to the beautiful city of Bath and within easy reach of the M4. At Colerne guest s can be assured of a fantastic track with a true 'circuit' type feel.
  • Friday 23rd Hullavington £89 This is our longest track and provides a challenge for all drivers.  It's huge run off areas allow guests to explore the limits in the best possible environment.
Limit Handling Coaching At Hullavington & Keevil
During October we are pleased to be able to offer one on one coaching on track, but also in separate dedicated areas at Hullavington and Keevil. You can book one of our superb driver coaches for an hour of coaching and split your time between driving on the track and also in areas where you can push your car to it's limits driving our unique progressive slalom and cornering exercises. This is available for only £90. Ideal to enhance your skills and to learn your car's abilities.
At Motorsport Events track days we work hard to give you:
  • Open pit Lane = loads of track time
  • Coaching available from experienced Motorsport professionals
  • Fun & friendly atmosphere
  • Our events are track days and are not test days - road cars only allowed!
  • Firm but fair driving standards rules
All of our airfield venues operate with a 100dB(A) noise limit.
Bookings are now being taken. To secure your places please call the booking hotline on 0870 787 2116 or if you would prefer to pay by cheque you can download a booking form by clicking this link: Booking Form

Press release:
CASTLE COMBE CIRCUIT ANNOUNCES 2008
ACTION DAY DATES

With prices generally held for 2008, Castle Combe
Action Days still represent probably the cheapest
way in the country of getting your car onto a
licenced race circuit. For just £30 plus admission
charges, anyone can participate in one of the
track sessions, as long as their car meets the
theme of the day and complies with the circuit's
strict noise limits.

For clubs, Action Days represent fantastic value.
Any accepted club, providing its display matches
the theme of the day, will receive free admission
passes and free display space for up to 12 cars.
Further passes can be purchased at reduced rates.
Accepted owners' clubs also get the benefit of
substantially reduced track passes, valid until
11.00 on the day.

With "Car of the Show" and "Club Stand of the
Show" awards at each Action Day, there is plenty
of incentive for each club to provide an
eye-catching display, while also providing a great
meeting point for members.

SATURDAY 19 APRIL
PERFORMANCE CAR ACTION DAY
Featuring displays from performance car owners'
clubs. With a major high street brand shortly to be
announced as sponsor of the day, expect a great
number of additional attractions for this event,
which was a complete sell-out this year. Clubs are
advised to apply early to avoid disappointment.

SATURDAY 14 JUNE
RETRO & SPORTSCAR ACTION DAY
Re-titled for 2008, this offers a chance for owners
of classic and sports cars to enjoy the challenge
of Castle Combe Circuit. Celebrating the 50th
Anniversary of the Austin Healey Sprite, the circuit
will be inviting some legendary names associated
with that car's history.

SATURDAY 6 SEPTEMBER
EUROFEST ACTION DAY
With plenty of regular track events for Japanese
performance cars, here is an event which
celebrates where it all began - with European
manufacturers. As it says on the label, it's open
for clubs and cars with European- manufactured
cars, with display areas divided by country of
origin and dedicated sessions for each country's
products. (Note: by European- manufactured
cars, the organisers refer to those marques
which - in the public perception - are produced
in Europe by European companies. With regret,
therefore, neither Swindon-built Hondas nor
Derbyshire-made Toyotas will be acceptable.)

SATURDAY 27 SEPTEMBER
MINIWORLD ACTION DAY
One of the best Mini events of the year usually
attracts around 40 traders, over 80 different Mini
clubs and a great variety of cars on the circuit -
all Minis, of course. New for 2008 will be a free
autojumble area for enthusiasts clearing out their
garages (you just pay admission charges).

Club application forms for each event will shortly
be available on the circuit website at:
http://www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk/actionday

You may also register an interest in Action Days,
as a club or an individual, by contacting:
