I want to fit two extra gauges in my Cooper. I am planning to fit an oil temp and a voltage gauge to the driver's door pillar. Has anyone here done the same thing or similar to their car? I am curious about how much work is involved in the project, wiring locations etc.

Cheers

I've never even soon a kit for it. Most people have mounted them under the windows controls or using a pod kit for next to the tachometer

Motor World have a bespoke kit specially for the BMW Mini. It's just a carbon fibre shell really. Do you know how easy it is to wire up the new gauges?

Voltage is probably easy as it just takes a feed from anywhere I believe that is 12V maybe lighter socket. Just make sure it has a small inline fuse though! Wires chafing against metal panels and body seams will eventually cause a short and fire risk.

The oil temp is a modification to the wiring loom I believe as it is fitted with the Chrono Pack.

i know it is not the same car, but here is what it looked on my turbo mazda 3:

i hated it, it blocks the view, there are plenty of space on the dash, or you mount them on the steering wheel dash.
