Navman's ICN 530 has not been reviewed on Pocket GPS World. However, I remember reading a review saying it is a worthy competitor to Tom Tom Go (can't remember which model though). Ask John, cooper_sport, Loz, and Dave, as they have 3rd party navs, possibly Neil the Hat too, however, I think his may be factory installed option. Good luck, and let me know which one you have chosen DK Image: http:// www.appletheminicoop er.net/PicSigs/ PicSig26.JPG

Posts: 1761 | I waslooking at getting the TomTom One before my trip to Scotland this week (Even though I know the way )As Pc World have them reduced until I checked out TomTom's site and they are releasing version 2 of the TomTom One which price wise is not bad. However it is not availible until the end of September 8O I have TomTom on my Pocket PC but it keeps crashing, however when it works, it works well. A colleague had a similar problem Also with a dedicated in car version the wife will be able to use it as she has to travel to do assements for potential residents The problem is I have seen the TomTom in use but not the Garmin versions as another possibility was the Garmin c310 Support For Our Wounded www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Posts: 1761 | After a bit of research I have decided not to plump for the cheapest option Given that there are a few things not included in the box, that I would end up buying I have gone and reserved a Tom Tom 510 @ a well know PC retailer. It includes the extra bits and a coule of extra useful features. Plus I can get it before we go to Scotland, so therefore will save some arguments over directions  Support For Our Wounded www.helpforheroes.org.uk

It will be better than relying on the wife and a road atlas Especially when you have been driving for a few hours and then says "Where are we ......" Posts: 1761 | OK I bought the TomTom Go510 So far I am impressed with it The safety camera database comes pre loaded. However as I already have a Snooper, I will still use this as it is a little more accurate regarding Speed Cameras and picks up Laser as Well, but still good to have double coverage The unit has a slightly wider screen than the cheaper ONE and not much bigger. It also comes with a PC Docking station and Home charging station unlike the ONE and a carry case as well. So far on small journeys it has proved very fast and accurate compared to the Pocket PC version. It has an external microphone and can be connected to a Bluetooth enabled Mobile for hands Free Operation of the phone, which works fairly well. It can download your phone nmbers list and can also send & receive Txts from your Mobile (Very handy ) My only gripe is I don't seem to be able to pair the phone and the TomTom, so everytime you get in the car you have to connect and enter the code, but a minor niggle.Another facility is the Plus services, using the GPRS facility on the phone (WAP) it can download weather and for a subscription traffic updates and alert you if their are problems on your current route. It comes with a month trial and I will give this a test when I go to Scotland in the next week or so. It can also download Traffic Camera updates and TomTom updates via this method. It also has a buddy facility where you can upload your location and see your where your friends, however this is not live tracking 8O . You can buy a seperate reciever and get TrafficMaster alerts. For those who have gone down the Ipod route you can purchase a cable and plug in your Ipod and control it through the TomTom. It is also possible to plan Intineray Routes and share them with other TomTom users. The only other problem I have encountered has been trying to use a larger SD card, with activating the maps. This has been reported on other forums and TomTom Tech Support are aware and it requires a piece of software to clear out some files. I have emailed TomTom Tech support and awaiting a reply. That again is a minor issue and does not imapct on the operation of the unit. All in all a very good buy, so far I let let people know how it faired on return from my Hol's Support For Our Wounded www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Posts: 1761 | Well I tried the Pocket PC version to get me to a place I was working at for a few weeks on the outskirts of London, my mate showed me the first week and then went on his bike there after and TomTom got me there and back no problems Plus the wife is useless at reading a map book  I have found that I can follow it quite easily when on my own in the car, especially when the poo hits the pan and you need to somewhere quick, which has happened a couple of times this year Support For Our Wounded www.helpforheroes.org.uk
