Why?

At Bedford Autodrome it tipped down and I spun my car outta the chicane at 85mph and went around 6 times :o

It's great fun and no real danger of any damage except to the old ego

First home from this awesome day out

Thanks to Dora for Dinner at 8.00pm

Apologies to John for losing you on the way home on the A11, M11, M25 and M3

And I was driving a bit too fast on the M3 - but dontcha just hate all those smug Lexus BMW and Merc drivers :x :x who sit in the outside lane at 60 thinking that they're doing their bit for the environment?

Well, what is to be said about RAF Marham?

100 cars+ incl Lambos, Scoobies, Porkers etc

135mph at the braking point at the end of the main straight (well ok I lied - fast jet runway)

20 cars piling into the chicane and the complex on most laps...

That cooper_sport, Hobzy and Max passed an awful lot of cars today (less the Lambos  )

2 other cars had a puncture each, I have an extra winscreen chip and a cracked spotlight glass (first lap FOD  )

Oh, and I broke Dora's Famous Fishing Brolly

Hobzy broke a locking wheel nut....

cooper_spor t lost his nerve (just the once mind )

Seriously though this was serious big boy fun for just £60 for the whole day

John did 209 miles on the track, I did 195; not sure about Tony?

Oh and we met a few friends including (what a great, polite young man) (he said thanks for his laps )

All you pasty young men need to get on a track to learn how to drive

Just come on the next event and ask John Tony or me to take you around then drive 20 laps

; this was as good as if not better than Bedford 8O

; I'll post it up as soon as I get the date ';

What max said above is spot on.

The drive up this morning was very wet and grey so we thought we would be in for a wet track day. To our surprise we arrived at Marham the sky was turning to blue skys and sunshine. By the time we started the track was already drying. At the end of the 30min session the track was fine for us to switch to our dry tyres. This made hobzy very happy since he hasn't had a dry track day for some time.

The varity of cars we had made the track a lot more interesting to be on than your usual MINI only days. For some reason I spent most of my morning racing a 205 that was track preped (Suspension, tyres, rool gage). He would be all over me into the corners but my power and LSD would leave him on the exit.
When Nick came over and talked to us he told me he was a passenger one of the times and loved the little fight me and the 205 driver had. Found the biggest problem the 205 had was on the starights as it kept hitting the rev limit in 5th. :o

As Max said I did lose my nerve on one corner, as witnessed by him and my video camera. Wasn't a biggy but a rare mistake for me to make. Was a 70mph right hand turn with a late turn in and appex. I ended up trying to push it too much going into the corner and losing grip on the front left tyre. Ended up just going wider and wider and using the whole width of the main runway before getting it back. Video to come later once I find it.

Highlight of the day has to be the last run we had before packing up. Hobzy, max and I all managed to get out together and have a really good battle. Max and his bhp would start pulling away on the starights. I would close in under braking and keep my momentum up with the help of the LSD. Then Hobzy would come along with his gripy tyres and lower suspension.
Managed to keep hobzy behind for a few corners until he got the run on me. Then the next corner Max and him got off line meaning I could take the ideal line and carry more speed. This just gave me the edge for hobzy to let me past and for me to come up behind Max.
Coming up to the fast chicane Max slowed down more than I expected resulting in me lossing all my momentum I would carry through. At this point hobzy had dropped back a little due to lifting off for me. This turned into his advanture as he wasn't effected by Max and me slowing down and so zipped through the chicane to get the run on both of us. :o Some of this I got on film and will be up in the next few days.

Overrule today was a great day and so much better than brunty. Would have been better if we had a few more peeps come along.

Sounds like I missed a good day then Hope you guys are coming to the rolling road at the end of the month??

John : How come you didnt put the S-spokes on the rear aswell?? Would have probably helped loosen the rear up a bit.

I'm happy to wait till next year before my next track day and I should have a set of tyres for it too.

I did plan to but couldn't be bothered in the end. Was probably a good thing I didn't, I was really chucking the MINI into the corners on late braking and would probably have spun round on the runflats. 8O

Hobzy thinks if my car was on his cut slicks it would make a good challenge for his one, what with me having the only MINI there with an LSD.

Still can't beleive how well the MINI went on the runflats with less than 1.6mm. By the end of the day I managed to make the front left into a slick tyre. 8O Still have the other two S-spokes left for one more track day then I will get some real track tyres.

All,

Managed to find another forum that had people attend the track day.

Max,
If you look at the pic's link above, on the 3rd page you will find a pic of something that belongs to you. I think they thought you were using the 106ron fuel that should have been in it.
