Mini for life?
Keep forever?

Change every few years?

Just wondering if you guys are planning on keeping your mini's forever or changing them on a regular basis. When I ordered mine I was asked if I wanted regular updates - errr no I want this one for life - planning on giving it to my boys when I'm too old & crusty to drive....

Now I've chosen the spec etc I couldn't imagine ever selling it.

On a good note - I got told this morning that mine is on the production line today & I should get it mid June now - whhoooooohooooooo... ..

Would like to say mine is for life, But with my track record a max 2 years! Thats if I haven't found a sexy S that grabs me.

Maybe I would let my other half look after this one if an S did accidentally end up under my ownership???

Thats if she hadn't left me!

Didn't think i would ever selll her as she my first mini & love her to bits but i am getting very tempted by a r56 Think the thought of her being 6years old in oct & with my big birthday this year i am hoping my insurance will enable me to get a newer version It will be more to the question if i can afford another as i but half the money down on chilli & if i could ever act do the deed etc. Got till end of jan 10 2 decide.

I had a Cooper on a 04 plate from new.....but always wanted the S, so when I got Alice in March 07 I decided to keep her for a good few years at least!

Dawn I think you may have missed your timescale.....you had till the end of 'Jan 09' to decide amazed.png

Just spent a few bob on it so I would say for the foreseeable future, but I am not a 'lifer'.

I've had mine for 6 and a half years now. My plan has always been to run it into the ground (or until i write it off ).

I've toyed with the idea of getting another car (non MINI) and turning the MINI into a track car.

So in short, I'm keeping it.

I had Apple from new since Feb 2002, and 118k+ miles later, she is still a joy to drive.

She has brought me great joy and had been a very important part of my life in the past few years, and has great sentimental value.

I know one day she will have to be replaced, however, I would like to believe she has a few more good years in her yet - she is still on her original exhaust!

Hmmmm, a MINI for life - there's an idea.

In the past five years i have had four cars - 3 of which were MINI's so i guess there's my answer.

We tend to keep our cars for about 6/7 years. I enjoy owning my Clubbie more so that any car that we have ever had, and I do get very attached to cars. I hope that if we do decide change it will be to another MINI, but it's Hubbys turn to choose next time and he prefers big cars.....

MINI Clubman............ Does my bum look big in this?!!

I have been really giving it some serious consdieration recently as chilli is'eating my money weekly' @ the mo as i have lost some of my love for her @ the mo but i thnik she will be safe for some while yet as cant do the deed & part with her yet & i am pretty sure i would regret it if i did. I have been reading lots of R56 views & came to the concesous that the r56 are ok but the r53 are the more fun to drive & more 'go kart' like which i what i partially love about the mini!

So think she is safe for a while as still dont love the r56 enough yet!

I passed my '04 Cooper to my son and it's now on 172,000 miles and still doing well. He's off to Uni in September, so it needs to last another 3 years. I'm now on my 3rd, it's a factory JCW, and I'll make a decision in another 2 years.
