I too am lost for words. I have just got in and read this.

Max was great fun and will always remember the last white horses run I went on with him and the conversations/advice he gave me over lunch that day.

OMG i can't believe i'm reading this. Dora - i'm so very sorry, my sincere condolences to you. Max will be sorely missed here on SCNM.

When i first joined M2 and was looking to start going on MINI runs, it was Max's enthusiasm and sence of humour that made me wont to be a part of South Coast New MINI. I always enjoyed going on the runs he organised. The last one being the Stonehenge Run only a couple of months ago. I feel pretty devastated about hearing this news today. RIP Max.

I didn't know Max very well, but this is terrible and shocking news. My thoughts are with youself, his family and his friends.

Perhaps we should all make an effort to make the Christmas Meal (the last event Max organised) a fitting celebration.

Really really sorry to hear about this. Our deepest condolences to you Dora and Max's family.

Max has given us some of our greatest and most enduring MINI memories and we are truly shocked and saddened by this awful news. The day we convoyed across Exmoor after the first Oggy Run chasing Max driving The Apple, is one of our fondest MINI memories.

Adrian and Chrissie

OMG. What devastating news.

So sorry for your loss Dora. I remember Max from a few runs but never really had a chance to meet him properly. I knew he was very passionate and fiery sometimes! I was happy to hear about the canal project for you two. Such a shame and can't pretend to know how you feel!

So sorry for your loss.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Max once on the splashing and humping run in the summer and what a nice man he was. Am so sorry to hear the news and he will be surely missed on the Mini scene. All our thoughts are with Dora and his family in this sad time.

Agreed, this would be a great way to celebrate Max's life and to finish what he started.

The Rest of my family will also be very sadden by this news as he knew and was loved by most of them.

Mine, Janey's and my family's thought's are with you and borda.

Lots of Love

As posted on M2, not sure if you read that thread Dora?
But very saddened to hear this, I remember him well on the Round Great Britain run. Invited us all around for tea and biscuits and his Neighbours all let us park the cars on their drives!
My Sympathies to you and the rest of the family

Dora - I am shocked at the news and saddened at your loss. I had the pleasure of meeting Max this year and he was an absolute gentleman.

As much as I will miss him on future runs and meets, I will equally miss his vast aray of avatars that always managed to put a smile on my face....

I’m devastated, and really couldn’t believe the news when I was told. I first met Max back in 2004 at his house in Shaftsbury where he lived at the time, we then drove to the mini show at Beaulieu motor museum, and wow what an exciting drive we had. Always found Max great company. Last time I saw Max he drove down to my house with his faithful dog on one Sunday last year. When he was organising the Zig zag hill run I was really looking forward to meeting him again, but sadly the run was called off due to bad weather. Dora, my thought are with you and his family

Hope it is OK with Dora. Thought I would post a pic of them together for all of us to remember what a Gentleman Max was.

Shocking news. So sorry for your loss Dora. I only met Max once a couple of years ago on a track day with a few of the SCNM boys. He gave me some great pointers on how to driver faster and how not to spin the car (I then went back on track and managed to spin, much to his amusement)
