Wow, does Max look the business or what?!

Dora,
As I live up the road (not sure exactley where you live however Devizes is quite tiny!) Please let me know if I can be of any assistance in walking Borda. The GF really wants a puppy, however I am being a scrouge at the mo. It would give us good practice and would be no trouble, so please give us a shout if you ever feel you can't or don't have the time (or if it is raining !)

Hope things are still ok

Awww, thanks for the offer to dog walk. He is not a puppy anymore, but a very naughty 1.5yo who likes to hump everything! biglaugh.png

He stays with a nice lady who looks after him while I am at work, and gets 1 or 2 walks a day. When he comes home in the evening, he just wants to sleep, magic!

We are doing well, thanks, and one day, my house will be tidy enough to receive visitors, hopefully soon! cry.png

JuBee has just put a Loreena McKennitt CD on Ebay with 100% going to Help For Hero's. It's called "The Visit". She mentioned that Max introduced her to Loreena McKennitt as she has 2 copies of the CD she wanted to sell the spare for charity. If anyone is interested it's item no 160300322457 on Ebay. Auction ends next weekend and the listing mentions its for Help For Heroes in memory of Max....

Likewise JCW/Dora/et al. - Just received the mail, I don't get to these parts to often but was shocked to see the mail. Max was one of the first peeps I met on a Mini run back when I had my first Cooper. We had much banter over the years, smashing guy with a very dry sense of humor. Hadn't seen him for a while recently but will have an everlasting memory of that sly grin and a wink. I'll try and make it down on the 5th, will reply seperately to that thread, but it may be difficult having used up all my work pass outs this year ! Peace Max - Gone but never forgotten.

Gone - Mini Cooper BRG - OV51
Gone - Mini Cooper S BRG - OV53
Now - Mini Cooper D Clubman Nightfire Red - OV57 - Length is important you know !

Having been out of the loop for a few months, I'm really shocked that I've only just found out about Max's passing.
I'm really saddened by the news, and would like to offer my condolences to Dora and your familes. My thoughts are with you right now.

Here are a couple of photo's from last years MINI United. RIP Max, a true gentleman.

hi Dora,
Lee has just told me the sad news about Max, (we have been away). We are so so sorry, it's hard to take in. We all had such a fabulous day with you back in the summer on the barge and you were both such fabulous hosts. Joseph had such a good day with Max at the helm and himself and Katie are always making Max's special salad! At the time I posted a thank you to you both on the Mini site but did not realise that it was the wrong one. Lee said he would get your postal address, but never did. Perhaps you could let him know what it is for future ref.
Take care, I do hope everything goes well on Friday, we will be thinking of you.
Love Teresa (Lee's Mum), Mick, Carla and all the familyx

Awwww, thank you all for your kind words and thoughts.

Teresa,

I took that big salad plate with me when I went to collect my stuff and mementos off the boat, as it reminded me of his fabulous salads that he made in the summer, and the great parties too

Perhaps I get to use it one day to entertain folks on here

Today is a sad day in the life of MINI as we say Good bye to a dear friend and founding member of SCNM.

It is also a day to look back at all the good times that those of us who had the privilege of knowing Max share.

Max was a kind, caring and helpful gentleman.

I am proud to say that he was a friend and fellow enthusiast of all things MINI. There are so many happy memories of him on MINI runs and on social events that will always be with me.

I know Dora will miss him so much and I know that she is a fiercely independant woman who has the strength and the loyal support of her friends not only here but in the larger community that she will cope.

To Max, May you blast your way through the pearly gates and may that race track never end

R.I.P Buddy!!

So many men so little time........

A very moving, and at times lifting, service. Malcolm clearly had many friends and collegues that thought so very highly of him.

Whats to happen with his car? It'd be a shame if it went into a gargae and wasnt used.

Felt the same as you Tony, lovely service - the stories about his life were wonderful. Was really sorry could not attend the reception, had planned to but as the service was longer than I anticipated, I had to run...appologies Dora...had to be back in B'mouth for 4.30.

Dora how you kept it together I don't know and it was a lovely honest, open account of a great man. I hope having many of your friends there was of some comfort.

John - well done mate, good to have a non military view of our Max, spoken from the heart

Ithought Max would have liked the sounds of cars ocassionay driving by in an 'enthuasti'c manner that could be heard now and then during the service. Was fitting.

Ironic that his service should have been on the day the Oxford MINI plan cut production...did they know?

and I don't know about others who attended...but seeing Max's car outside the Church...was a lovely touch...but also very painful to see.

RIP Max - will miss you

A brilliant service, great to remember Max by. Well done to Dora and John for your readings.

In light of what Dora said, I am glad to know you all and my life is much happier being a part of SCNM.

It was a lovely service and very interesting to hear stories of Max from the Brigadier.

Dora & John you both did heart felt, fitting tributes. He would be proud.

I have to agree with Dave, Max's car was sad to see but I was so glad it was there

Max, you will be missed by us all. RIP.

Very nice service and great to hear about the life Max had. The turn out was amazing and good to see Max had so many good friends.

Dora, thank you for having me stand up infront of everyone. Really meant a lot that you should ask me to. I looked up to Max and the way he got involved with the running of the club. I like to think over the years he encouraged me to take a more active role in the club, and have his passion for a fast MINI
Going forward, I very much hope Max would like me to carry on doing his quicker MINI runs people enjoy each year.

And as Dora said today, I consider you all very good friends and have a great time with you as part of SCNM.

it was a really nice service today, thank you Dora. There were some really nice tributes paid to Max and it was great to hear some stories about him too - he was obviously a well liked and respected man. Although I didn't know Max all that well, I was glad that I was able to come today and pay my respects

I agree with the others, seeing Max's car outside the church was a really nice touch, I think it near enough brought a tear to everyone's eye

rest in peace Max
