On Friday night (5th Sep) I was coming home having been at a very wet golf day all day. As i got onto the slip road at J24 on the M25, i was confronted by lots of flashing lights, and the Highways Agency in the process of closing the anticlockwise side of the motorway. I was the first one on the slip road, with all three lanes now closed, and all the traffic backed up behind the Highways vehicles round the motorway and behind me on the slip road.

There was a car imbeded in the central reservation and 100 yards of crash barriers lying in the right hand lane of the road. Then about another 8 cars on the hard shoulder, plus one car which had someone with a bad injury in it, according to the man i spoke to from the Highways Agency.

An ambulance soon came passed me on the slip road and made it's way up the 300 yards of road to the cars on the hard shoulder. Followed speradicly by about 4 police cars. After around 20-25  minutes the ambulance left the scene, and they finished clearing the road up.

Having sat there for about 3/4 of an hour, the police then started letting everyone on there way. But having seen and now got past the accident, and with a lot of surface water and spray off the road. It didn't seem to worry some people, who in very poor visibility were quite happy to tailgate a cars length behind the car infront at 60mph, which was probably the cause of the accident. It was just horrific to see people unable to learn a lesson, when the consequencies were so evident only a mile or so back.

A very graphic lesson that alot of people don't have a clue how to drive safely in dangerous conditions. I feel very sorry for all the emergency services that have to come along, and clean up all the mess left behind by thoughs idiots.

After a journey like that your just glad to get home in one piece, rant over!.

M5 was total rubbish the other day too but even a huge amount of water it didnt have to much effect for me. What annoys me if the pieces of [censored] we see on the road like KA and RoverCity shites with there diddy tyres being driven really fast in the wet and up peoples arses all the time.
