hi. ive got an 02 plate mini that has an oil light that goes thru stages of not coming on then coming on for a few days.... i mean on tick over the light will come on then with one tiny rev its off... revs drop back to tick over idle and it comes back on? the engine has only done 35,000 and the oil level is perfect on the dipstick! anyone seen this before?

Bad sensor or connection maybe?? Personally I have never seen an oil warning light even with 2 litres of oil missing or on a Cooper which trashed itself due to lack of oil.

That sounds familiar

I thought the light only came on with a sudden loss of oil pressure not the lack of oil. I might be wrong but this is the first case I ever heard of the light actually working!!

Check the oil level if it's correct and the light comes on intermittently could either be a faulty sensor or a worn oil pump. Either way as long as you check yr oil level weekly - as per the manuel should be ok
