I'm more concerned about having tyres left to drive home on Max! I didn't spend all that money on track wheels to not use em...

Hey ho It'll be fun whatever.

It won't be fun (for you ) but it will be entertaining for us

Spin Virgins worldwide will commiserate with you Tony..

..but once you go backwards and sideways there's no going back

Trust me it won't be the first time I've spun - once at Goodwood in the rain (took me 2 hours to get the gravel out of the bumpers), twice at Brunty, and once in my old 106 many moons ago...

20PSI of boost from a Garret turbo should give you a short lived edge on everyone else

Jon or anyone else - if you have some means of charging new style sony handycam F; 7.2 volt batteries, I'd be very grateful if you can bring it along or some spares. Everything Ive got is in storage ready for our house move  except the cam and 1 flat big battery:cry: and one charged small one.

I'll be eternally grateful... promise.

I have just brought a cigerate converter for my car so I can plug in standard house plugs. I will have my mains charger with me which just happens to be for sony handycam as well.

The batteries I use are model no. NP-FP30 and FP70.

My mains charger will hopefully fit your camera.

Easy - haven't de-catted as there didn't seem much point, and at goodwood it was only 86 dB

Plenty of Rainex on the windscreen and some spare too

So I should be ok then - with no cat

If I don't pass the noise test I'll just take my de-cat pipe out and replace the cat

What a day!!

Passed the 98dBA noise test at 98.5dBA :o 8O

I'm told that there was a Scooby (mebbe an EVO) on 110dBA got sent home

Wet track all morning - dry after lunch - gave Hobzy John and habibi a chance to show off

Best moments:

The bacon bagette from the chuck wagon was outstanding...

The first Elise to spin on the second open pit lane lap closely followed by an EB Works/GTT (bohzar/Alex)

cooperstom driving my car rapidly and faultlessly like he stole it for lap after lap :o

Really great driving Tom... you're a natural

The instructors: especially Rupert who drove my car the quickest ever in pouring rain around this technically challenging (but not fast) circuit

The elise that caught fire in the car park and the local Abingdon fire tender that turned up the crew stood and looked on did nothing and shook their heads knowingly and laughed like drains

The 425bhp Jeep Cherokee that passed us all but whaled about in the twisties.

The most awesome car (and most poised) on the track today was the Datsun 250Z, for my money...

Anyway a great day out.

Special thanks must go to Matt for turning out to freeze to death and take loads of pics and to my friend Simon Hutchings from Abingdon Station and the lovely Natasha from Motorsport Events who gave Tom and me our freebie (almost an hour each) instruction time with Rupert.

Also to Nankang for a great set of 18" tyres...

Oh and on the way home another elise broken down on the hard shoulder as we got on to the A34

Downsides:

Soaked to the skin before 9.30am

A34 Roadworks  (both ways)

M4 Roadworks on route home to Swindon

Anyway all in all a great day out.

I'm sure we'll all be at the next one

What a great day!

My first track day and i can definately say that im hooked!

A massive thank you to Max for letting me drive his pride and joy around a wet track on my first track day! Now thats bravery! or stupidity!

Also thanks to Tony for those few white knuckle laps in your passenger seat.

Would of been perfect had it:
A) not rained so much
not taken 3 hours to get home

But hey, there will be a next time....

What a day!!

I'm told that there was a Scooby (mebbe an EVO) on 110dBA got sent home

It was a skyline - guy called Chaz - son of the guy with the primera. 100 dB on tickover 8O

The 425bhp Jeep Cherokee that passed us all but whaled about in the twisties.

You let him get past you??? :o I got him blue flagged every time Credit where its due though - that thing did bloody shift in a straight line and by the end of the day he was chucking it about!

The most awesome car (and most poised) on the track today was the Datsun 250Z, for my money...

do you mean the Nissan 350Z? showing your age mate there!
