So sorry to hear your tragic news - I only met Max the once at this year's Splashing and Humping, and I'm afraid to say that I spent more time fussing Borda than talking to Max as we have a Border Terrier as well. Keep strong Dora.

Much love.

Jerry and Char.

Thanks peeps, I am holding up well. Borda and Jess the cat are keeping me company, and I saw Jess going up to Borda and kissed him for the first time ever this morning, magic! amazed.png

I believe Jess has come to terms with Borda being here to stay now smile.png

His funeral will be a small family affair up north, however, there will be some sort of memorial celebration afterwards. I am currently looking at Fri 05 Dec 08 in the afternoon in or near Bulford Camp near Salisbury. I'll post up the exact date, time and other details once they are available smile.png

I shall busy myself this weekend tidying my house, so that it will be in a fit state to receive visitors tongue.png

Don't worry about me, I am on the up part of the change curve now smile.png

There are sufficient spaces in the camp for certain amazed.png

As soon as I know the details I shall post them up so that we can start preparing for it.

We need car registration in order to go into camp, that is as much as I know.

There is a will there is a way! wink.png

I am hoping that the IOW run article is in this month's MM. If it is, I have asked for an addendum to be added to the end of the article Dora re Max passing away. It dpends if they have gone to print - I hope you don't mind .

Hi Phil, that's kind of you to do that, thank you.

No issue whatsoever, as it is all in the public domain as far as I am concerned.

Hi guys and especially you Dora,

This will be my first of many threads on here I hope – and just wanted to say that when I heard about the incident in the local paper (Wiltshire Gazette) that I was very sad to hear of what seems to be a VERY big loss. I have been looking at joining the website for a while, but after the story and it mentioning that he was the co-founder I thought I would show my support and appreciation for what sounds to be a great and well loved man.

I have seen you many times around town (Devizes) Dora in that beautiful ‘Apple’ coloured mini of yours! I look forward to meeting you properly (and the beautiful Borda too!)

Take care (and hopefully meet you and everybody else soon!)

Awww, thanks for the kind words and thoughts, and welcome to SCNM! amazed.png

Apple is rather difficult to be missed wink.png I hope I have waved at you in passing, I still wave at MINIs most of the time smile.png

Looking forward to meeting you one day.

BTW, the pic was taken when Borda was a puppy, he is now a very cheeky 1.5yo boy! biglaugh.png

I hadn't logged on to the site for a few days so I was totally shocked when I read the news about Max this evening. I'm feeling absolutely gutted, but I can't start to understand how you must be feeling Dora, and our thoughts are certainly with you.

To the Cookie's Max was more than a fellow member of SCNM, he was also considered a close family friend. We spent a lovely unexpected new years eve night last year onboard the Apple and Julia and the Kids spent a few days on the Apple as Max's guest in the summer along with our au pair, Marie. Max was a fantastically generous host and a great cook. I've just woken up Julia this evening as she was asleep to break the tragic news to her, it's going to be really difficult to tell James and Alice tomorrow, they both really loved Max. James really looked up to Max with his interest of anything military, a browning machine gun bullet that Max gave him is one of James' most prized possessions and takes pride of place on the shelf in his room.

Rest in peace Max, it's tragic that you have been taken but our lives are richer for having known you....

Andy (Cookie)

Awww, Andy, thanks for the kind words and thoughts.

Max enjoyed having your family round, and he thought a world of James and Alice. I hope they'll be ok after hearing the news about his death.

We are bearing up ok, thanks. Borda is getting used to his new routine, however, he likes staying with me as I feed up lots of goodies!

I've been out of the country for a few weeks so i'm completely shocked by this news.

I'm so sorry Dora, Max was always my reference for what i should live my life like in and out of the Forces he always seemed to be finding the best of both worlds!

i shall not forget him

So you can now enjoy the celebrated ale that still eludes the Ferrets of the Gribble Inn - Fursty Ferret

Awwww, thanks Gordon!

He lived life to the full till the very end, never minced his words, never suffered fools, called a spade a spade, and always a gentleman.

He has left a huge void that is going to be difficult to fill, and I shall miss him dearly

I am bearing up ok, thanks, and so is Borda :)

Unfortuantely we missed the print run deadline, but I have been promised a mention in the January issue.
