From 1st November 2008 it will become an offence to sell or manufacture registration plates that do not conform to the latest British Standards and design criteria laid down by the DVLA Consequently the ability to purchase Showplates displaying non-legal fonts/spacing/ images/slogans etc will be outlawed. so you need to buy them by 30th oct 2008. Number plate producers can still make 'signs' so dont panic - just up to you how or where you display the 'sign'. The good thing about the change is that people cannot put website address's at the bottom of number plates - personally i hate all those adverts. In all seriosness there are far more important crimes that should be tackled then numberplate spacing. I suggest focussing on people without insurance, MOT's and tax first. The Police have to massage their statistics with easy catches as they seem to be to scared to go after real criminals, so they have to criminalise the rest of us.
